101 Mobility honors Fishers March Disability Awareness activities

National Disability Awareness Month in Fishers is all about inclusion. The month long theme emphasizes that people with disabilities are people first; our co-workers, classmates and neighbors who want to be included in their communities.

As a family-managed company with strong ties to our hometown of Fishers, our 101 Mobility family is intensely proud of our rapidly growing community and the way it takes care to include all our citizens. That’s one of the reasons we elected to base our operations on Indianapolis’ far Northeast side.

And because we work with strong loving families to help their family members live their lives as actively as possible through the many state-of-the-art products we rent, install and provide, we are honored to take part in this year’s events.

We invite you to join with us to learn, celebrate our differences and participate during the many diverse activities included in Fishers March Disability Awareness campaign going on all month long, including:

  • Friday, March 10, 10 a.m. | Holland Park

Glider Dedication  This event is open to the public. Special thanks to Fishers Kiwanis Club and IU Health Saxony for their generous support

  • Friday, March 10, 7 p.m – 9 p.m. | Britton Hall at Pinheads

Adult Comedy Show: “A Long Night of Laughs” featuring National Comedian Scott Long 

Recommended for those 18 years of age and older. Proceeds benefit the Hamilton County Special Olympics. Individual tickets available for $20 advance or $25 at-the-door (or tables of eight may be purchased for $125). Purchase tickets in advance Pinheads at (317) 773-9988.

Thursday, March 16, 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. | Fishers High School Free and open to the public. 40+ organizations and vendors who provide special needs services and equipment will be on hand to discuss employment, transportation and continuing education

  • Friday, March 17, 6 p.m – 8 p.m. | Fishers High School Gymnasium

Fishers Athletic Showcase: Adapt & Thrive

Free and open to the public, although donations are encouraged for the performing organizations:  Featuring USA Paralympic Soccer Team Players: Bryce Boarman & Seth Jahn. Exhibitions by Power Soccer, Special Olympics Basketball, Special Olympics Cheer, and DeVeau’s Show Team by Gym Roots. Sponsored by the generosity of TOPSoccer, a program of Indy Premier Soccer Club

Luncheon & Learn: “Making Connections for An Inclusive Workforce”

Open to businesses and Launch Fishers members at no charge. Gold Sponsor of Fishers March Disability Awareness
. Keynote by Scott Wise of Scotty’s Brewhouse. Highlighting how to recruit, employ and retain people of all abilities

Panel discussion with participants including John Wechsler, Co-Founder of Launch Fishers; Chrissy Pogue, Transitional Specialist at HSE Schools; Michelle Steltz, Director of Business Operations/Home & Community Based Services for Opportunities For Positive Growth, and many more.

Edge Art Unveiling 

Featuring exhibit by local artist, Warren Miller. Art will be displayed on banners attached to the east side of the Edge parking facility

Tuesday, March 28, 3:30 p.m. – 5 p.m. | City Hall Auditorium 

A free public event, Volunteers from the Fishers disability community including 101 Mobility will be partnering with key city and business leaders will share their insights. Please join us!
